CDP Foundation Scholarship Information



Carol Dean Porter was well known for her generous support of both horse and rider. Over the years, CDP was able to coach many riders to the top of the sport in addition to supporting and assisting grass root riders with the opportunities that would have otherwise been unobtainable.

After Carol's passing, The CDP Foundation was formed to continue her legacy. Zone 10 riders who haven't otherwise been able to show often, or at all, on the circuit are able to apply for the opportunity to be granted one of ten scholarships thanks to the generous donations from our show management sponsors in addition to various monetary and product assistance.

Scholarship information

application process



Each fall the Application process will open for submission (October 1st). Applicants will submit an email and link to the application will be sent out for completion. Be a Junior or Amateur Zone 10 rider (currently open to California and Nevada residents) in good standing within our equestrian community with the need for competition financial aid.




2.



APPLICANT DETAILS



To apply you must:

1) Have your own horse or be able to provide one at your cost

2) Fill out the entire application in detail, including explaining a financial need for the scholarship

3) Be a resident of CA or NV

4) Provide two years of show records at any level. Contact us if you do not have them

5) Have a true love of all things horsemanship

6) Return your applications no later than 11/15 for the following year

7) Have, or have the ability to be a USEF member in good standing including Safe Sport where applicable.

Review process



Upon receiving the applications, our board of directors will review all the documents to ensure all requirements are met. The BOD diligently confirms show records, financial needs, letters of recommendation as well as the application itself. It is at that time, the BOD submits the qualified applicants to our list of Mentors for their votes.

The CDP Foundation Mentors voting is reviewed and tallied where the anticipation is finally over, the Top Ten are announced! Two deserving Applicants will receive Scholarships with generous support from our Show Sponsors as well as access to mentorship from top trainers in our sport. But that's not all, the eight Runners Up receive Scholarship from Nilforushan Equisport Events as well as Desert International Horse Park!
